“The first time I walked the road I was shocked two find two odd looking structures on a curve in the road. There was a sign on one of the buildings that read
SILVER DEW WINERY 1953”
Pat Conroy, Author “The Water is Wide”

That quote by famed author Pat Conroy, who is renowned for his books “The Prince of Tides” and “The Great Santini” put Daufuskie Island and the Lowcountry of South Carolina on the map when he original published it in 1972. Today, that same curve in the road entices visitors from around the world to those same odd looking structures to “feel” the History.

I was blessed to purchase the Historic Bloody Point Lighthouse and The Silver Dew Winery a number of years ago. Both buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. The Silver Dew Winery also has gained prominence as being the first Licensed winery in South Carolina.

Papy Burn, Bloody Point Lighthouse Keeper was responsible for taking out a window of the Winery building that was actually a Lighthouse structure itself and inserting the Silver Dew Winery Sign. That sign is now a proud symbol of Daufuskie Island. It now graces the front of my Silver Dew Winery T-Shirts offered on this E-Commerce site and my related products.

In recognition of Papy Burn, that never made a penny from selling his wine but gave it away to his friends, I dedicate this on-line store. In it you will find items that are truly Daufuskie. You will find my hand made wire wrapped Jewerly made from glass, pottery shards and Indian artifacts for as far back as 2000BC. In the future other hand picked items will be offered. And you are always welcome to visit those two odd looking structures in the curve of the road and take home your very own piece of Daufuskie History.
